Two members recently had their $10,687 auto loan and $4,998 home improvement loan paid off thanks to Southwest 66 Credit Union.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Odessa, Texas-based credit union presented the members with "Loan Forgiveness" awards. James Magness, who won $4,988.07, had borrowed the money for home improvement. Miranda Castilleja, a single mother, had her 2004 Nissan X-Terra balance of $10,687.05 paid off, according to Southwest 66 CU.

Mark Williams, president/CEO of the $50 million CU, said the members' stories were so compelling that offering some relief was one way to help them during financially troubled times.
