Seeking to aid the state's battered economy, Arizona State Credit Union said it has launched what it calls the "first ever social media Website" designed to assist laid off state, university and other employees find jobs.

"HelpingAZ.com will serve as a forum allowing open dialogue in an effort to foster community building," said the Phoenix CU. "People will be able to share leads for current job openings and opportunities, as well as find links to beneficial resources based on visitor postings."

Other tools on the website include up-to-date state budget information, unemployment benefit information, money saving tips and financial assistance, "all developed by active online community participants," said the $1.3 billion CU.
