Piedmont Aviation Credit Union is accentuating the positive with its new name Piedmont Advantage Credit Union.According to Piedmont Advantage CU President/CEO Judy Tharp, after 60 years it was time for a change. Originally chartered to serve employees of Piedmont Airlines, the Winston-Salem, N.C. credit union now serves employee groups throughout the United States and anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Duplin, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Mecklenburg or Rockingham counties in North Carolina."Replacing 'Aviation' with 'Advantage' will help us overcome confusion with potential new members who may believe they cannot join because we are limited to employees of the aviation industry," said Tharp. She added that having the word Advantage has a deeper meaning during these tough economic times particularly when combined with the credit union's new motto, "Easy, wherever you are.""We have never stopped lending; every day, we help people who are struggling by developing 'workouts' for them-we even allowed members to skip payments during the holiday season," said Tharp. "We are eager to provide advantages like these to more members who desire to have their financial needs answered by a trusted, strong member-owned credit union. We feel our new identity will give us this mass appeal and generate a lot of enthusiasm about us."In addition to the name change, the new look includes new signage and brochures, which members will notice immediately. A new Web site is planned to showcase the new brand and reflect the move to more convenience.
