A survey of Internet users in eight countries around the world found that they felt far safer doing online banking than using credit cards over the Internet.
The annual Online Wellbeing Survey from F-Secure also found very few that said they felt their children are totally safe on the Internet.
The Finland-based provider of Internet security tools (www.f-secure.com) used a third-party survey service to interview in December about 200 online users each in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, German, Italy, India and Hong Kong.
Fifty percent of the respondents overall said they were confident about security while doing online banking, but only 6% said they felt secure while making credit card purchases online.
Only 7% of respondents said they thought their children were totally safe on the Internet.
