The Filene Research Institute wants your help to find opportunities for credit union innovation in the recently passed economic stimulus package.

"Imagine credit union enthusiasts working together to dig deeper into the 1,071-page conference report to proactively find the opportunities for credit unions and the 90 million consumers they serve," the institute said. "Explore a potential outcome when the credit union system authors a recommendation for a new financial product and sends the innovation to law makers on behalf of all consumers-think a modern day IRA or HSA."

Filene envisions the time line for the project as between 60 and 90 days and said it would focus on four tasks: identifying key areas for innovation like housing, lending, and energy; generating new ideas about innovations in those areas; testing and narrowing the ideas to find the best and bringing those ideas to credit unions.
