WASHINGTON – Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke is scheduled to give his semi-annual report on monetary policy during a hearing of the House Financial Services Committee next Wednesday.

Bernanke will discuss the Fed's efforts to combat the recession through setting interest rates and other methods.

On Thursday, the panel is scheduled to hear from four prominent economists who will, according to the committee, discuss "current conditions in financial markets, how these conditions are affecting and will affect the broader economy going forward, as well as policy recommendations addressing specific problems in financial markets or macroeconomic problems."
