WASHINGTON — Credit unions who have exemplary executives, volunteers, marketing programs or political activism can enter NAFCU’s annual awards competition.This year, the NAFCU awards committee will select winners in the following categories: federal credit union of the year, CEO of the year, professional of the year and volunteer of the year. The professional category was added last year to acknowledge a broader range of credit union talent.Entries for the NAFCU annual awards will be divided into two groups-credit unions with asset sizes of $150 million or less and those with $150 million or more.The NAFCU awards committee is also accepting entries of creative and successful promotions for its annual marketing awards competition. NAFCU’s marketing awards will also be divided into groups by asset size. Member credit unions can enter up to two of the seven categories: best membership promotion, best lending promotion, best product or service promotion, best member newsletter, best annual report, best promotional campaign and best Web site.The White Hat Award honors the credit union with a winning commitment to NAFCU/PAC and to helping to keep credit union supporters in Congress. The white hat award is automatically awarded to the NAFCU-member credit union that raises the most individual dollars for NAFCU/PAC.Winners of NAFCU’s awards will be honored at NAFCU’s 42nd annual conference at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Md., July 21-25.The deadline for entries for NAFCU’s awards is March 23. Entries may be submitted online at www.nafcu.org/awards. Credit unions may also obtain an entry form by calling NAFCU’s member service Center at 800-344-5580.Entries are also being accepted for NAFCU’s Paul Revere award. This award is presented to individuals who have shown exemplary grassroots activism. The winner or winners will be recognized at NAFCU’s 2009 Congressional Caucus, Sept. 20-23, in Washington. Member credit unions have until Aug. 1 to submit entries for the Paul Revere award.This competition is open to all natural person credit unions belonging to the NAFCU.For information on, or to register for, the annual conference, which features a concert by the singer Kenny Rogers and a speech by former congressman and television actor Fred Grandy, go www.nafcu.org.
