TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gene Telfair, president/CEO of Florida A&M University Federal Credit Union, was among the recent recipients recognized for carrying out principles exemplified by civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Telfair was honored by the Martin Luther King Foundation Inc. during a Jan. 14 ceremony for his efforts with helping local residents set and meet personal finance goals including becoming homeowners. The $20 million Florida A&M University FCU serves more than 3,600 members.

For the past 15 years, the foundation has recognized leaders in the Tallahassee community. The Leon County Commission hosted the event.
