MADISON, Wis. — CUNA Mutual Group said Monday more than 200 Gulf Coast credit have now reported some type of loss from Hurricane Ike with about 20 of those preparing to file claims for "significant damage."

CMG maintained that it now believes it has made contact with all CUs impacted by the Sept. 13 storm as "reports of new losses have slowed down."

The actual dollar amount of property losses was not disclosed but a CMG spokesman pointed out that as Texas CUs get back to nomal business, the insurer "will likely see losses trick in pertaining to ATMS, repos and data processing damage.

"Hopefully, these will be minor in nature," forecast the CMG spokesman.

Meanwhile, CUs in the Beaumont/Galveston area said while some branches have now full power, many floodeed facilities remain closed. "We're operating out of a trailer now with of our branches which will need to be rebuilt," said Janna Achord, president/CEO of Firestone Community FCU in Orange.
