CHICAGO -- A new study by Alliant Credit Union and theInternational Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialistsfinds that many U.S. workers are one paycheck from financialtrouble.

The white paper, entitled "American Workers: Getting Ahead orJust Getting By?," finds that although employees are generallypleased with their income levels they can't seem to save money orget ahead financially. Less than 20% considered themselves to befinancially secure

In addition, employer benefits such as health and retirementplans are seen as important but primarily for future rather thanpresent needs. Many employees have financial needs that requireassistance here and now.

According to ISCEBS President/Mosse & Mosse AssociatesSenior Vice President Phillip Grisafi, there is a definite need foremployers to provide programs that help employees with personalmoney management and most employees surveyed said they wouldwelcome financial information from their workplace.
