ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Chairman Michael E. Fryzel spent the end of last month welcoming representatives from NAFCU, NASCUS and American Share Insurance to the NCUA.

NAFCU President Fred Becker Jr. visited with Fryzel for their initial meeting.

"NAFCU is recognized as an indispen??sable advocate for the federal credit union system, and I welcome the occasion to discuss the relevant issues for credit unions in today's complex financial environment with Mr. Becker," Fryzel said.

NASCUS President Mary Martha Fortney visited the NCUA after Fryzel spoke at the NASCUS State System Summit in Seattle. "As I stated in my remarks to NASCUS, a working partnership between the federal and state regulatory systems, is essential, and today's meeting with Ms. Fortney served to further efforts in that direction," Fryzel said during the visit. "During my days as a state regulator in Illinois, I found NASCUS to be an essential and vital resource, and I look forward to a good working relationship becoming even better."

American Share Insurance President Dennis Adams and Executive Vice President Duane Welsh represented ASI at NCUA headquarters. "ASI has been a well-established and valued partner for a number of state-chartered credit unions for years. I welcome their opinions and input as NCUA continues to carry out its federal insurance responsibilities, and I look forward to an open and productive relationship with the nation's largest private insurer of credit unions," Fryzel said.

Fryzel also spent time late last month at the State Department Federal Credit Union. He toured the credit union, became a member and met with President/CEO Jan Roche.

"I am pleased that NCUA employees have the opportunity to join this credit union," Fryzel said. "SDFCU has a long-standing tradition of excellence in member service and safe and sound operations, and I am impressed by their approach to fulfilling their mission."
