COLUMBIA, S.C. — Hurricane Gustav, now a tropical storm barely off the radar, credit unions in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are being reminded to get disaster preparedness plans at the ready for Hanna, the next Atlantic storm, still days away from possible landfall.

In an all-points e-mail, the South Carolina Credit Union League suggested CU managers start paying attention "to the potential impact of this Atlantic storm" in connection with the "myriad disaster preparedness assets available to you and your credit union."

The e-mail alert was sent out by Garry Parks, president/CEO of the league, pointing in particular to a recent speech at the league's annual Leadership Conference in Hilton Head Aug. 14 which focused on "Katrina Lessons Learned."
