ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The $315 million Del Norte Credit Union is being sued for breach of contract by the auditing firm that its previous supervisory board hired, according to members of the CU who opposed the CU's move from an elected to appointed supervisory board.

The suit was filed in state district court on July 29 by the firm of Pulakos and Alongi. Members maintained that the previous supervisory committee hired Pulakos to conduct internal audits of the institution. The complaint alleges debt and money due, breach of contract and unjust enrichment, according to a court Web site.

According to members dissatisfied with the credit union's leadership, Del Norte made a decision to dismiss its elected supervisory board and go to an appointed one after the supervisory board elections had already begun. The members say the CU has never announced the results of that election and member appeals to the state's Department of Regulation and Licensing have not yielded an answer to their concerns.
