ST PETERSBURG, Fla. — PSCU Financial Services, the payments processing CUSO for more than 500 credit unions and millions of card accounts is paying close attention to tropical storm Fay.
The payments processor maintains two call centers, one in Florida and one in Arizona which are mirror images of one another, according to PSCU spokesman Merry Pateuk, and being prepared for a possible hurricane means starting to put emergency plans into place before a storm is formally recognized as a hurricane.
“In this we're like [noted NBC weatherman] Al Roker,” Pateuk said. “We are going to start looking early and often and making the preparations we need to make in case the weather starts impacting our members' operations.”
Tropical storm Fay is poised to hit the Florida coast as a category 1 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center. Media reports indicate the storm killed between 35 and 41 people in the Caribbean.
