COLLINSVILLE, Ill. — Scott Credit Union has got area residents humming a new tune about what to expect from a financial institution.

The new series of television commercials features catchy music and a lovable loser character in several scenarios spending money. The problem is that his money has disappeared to his high-rate or high-fee bank accounts. The message is simple–ask viewers if their money is disappearing to their high-rate bank account, then it might be time to make the switch to Scott CU.

"We aimed at doing something different with this series of commercials than what banks and other financial institutions have done," said Scott Credit Union Vice President of Marketing Adam Koishor. "Our main character is featured in several situations where he is spending money. The humor of it is that he doesn't have any money. It has disappeared to a high-rate or fee bank account."

The commercials, which were produced by Switzer Film of Troy, will be airing on several stations through Charter Cable this summer and fall. The spots also will air on KSDK Channel 5 during the Cardinals baseball pre-game shows.

"The new commercials were created as the first of a potential series much like many of the national television commercial series that you see," Koishor said. "We hope that people find the spots entertaining and begin to look forward to another round to see what funny things the main character is doing next. Obviously, we hope that viewers are entertained and then they stay tuned in long enough to see our message."

The new commercial series is part of Scott CU's effort to create more visibility of the value of doing business at a credit union instead of other financial institutions. Scott CU, in its efforts to increase the awareness of its brand name, also recently launched an updated logo and a new slogan, "Make The Most of Your Money!"

"We also have a new commercial that was filmed in a classroom that educates viewers about the benefits of a credit union and how easy it is to belong to one," Koishor said. "We are working hard to inform people who live or work in the area that they can benefit from having accounts with us."
