WASHINGTON — A combined accounting firm will have the third-biggest credit union practice.
Minneapolis-based Larson Allen LLP is buying Schreiner, Legge and Co. of Alexandria, Va., effective July 1.
"As a firm, LarsonAllen is already committed to the industries SLCO serves–credit union, tax, nonprofit, CIRAs, employee benefit plans, and construction–so the fit is appropriate," said SLCO partner Ken Welch.

"SLCO brings a rich history in serving credit unions, and their general tax practice complements our D.C. offerings," said John Langan, principal-in-charge of LarsonAllen's D.C. office, and a member of the firm's board of directors. "Together with our Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Florida locations, SLCO strengthens our geographic presence on the East Coast."
Partners of the two firms have worked together on credit union issues while serving on credit union committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants during the past 15 years.
FIS Adds Remote Deposit
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Fidelity National Information Services is now offering consumer remote deposit services, allowing users to scan and submit checks to their credit union or bank from home.
The new service complements the company's existing Commercial Capture Xpress solution for businesses.
A Texas bank is the first to use the new FIX Xpress Deposit solution, the company said, and several more are expected to be in production in the next 60 to 90 days.
Jacksonville-based FIS (www.fidelityinfoservics.com) provides processing and other services to more than 9,000 financial institutions in more than 80 countries, the company said.
Leave It To CUNA
WASHINGTON — Attendees at the National Conference of State Legislatures will get to take a trip down television memory lane, thanks to CUNA.
Ken Osmond, who played the too-eager-to-please Eddie Haskell on the television series "Leave It to Beaver" and is a credit union member, will speak at a CUNA reception during next month's meeting of.the conference. CUNA expects 500 legislators and their guests to attend the reception, which is part of the conference's annual meeting in New Orleans.
Osmond played the mischievous friend of Beaver's older brother Wally during the series, which ran from 1958 to 1963 and is still shown in reruns. After leaving acting, he spent 18 years as an officer in the Los Angeles Police Department. He now manages rental properties in the Los Angeles.
