ALEXANDRIA, Va. — According to NCUA data, the ten credit unionswith the highest percentage of their assets in credit cardreceivables have overall assets of $37.0 million or less.

The three credit unions whose card receivables make up thehighest percentage of their overall assets are the $37.0 millionAcme Continental (30.5% from cards) headquartered in Riverdale,Illinois; the $4.9 million Snake River Federal Credit Union (23.2%from cards), headquartered in Twin Falls, Idaho; and the $19.0million Bridgeport Fire Department Employees Federal Credit Union(21.3% from cards) headquartered in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

To some extent, this is not surprising. Credit card receivableswould naturally be a bigger part of an overall smaller creditunion. But despite their smaller overall size, these credit unionsstrongly manage their card programs, often using innovation andreputation to keep their cards at the top of their members'wallets.
