SUITLAND, Md. — Former NCUA Board Member Debbie Matz has exited her post as executive vice president/chief operating officer at Andrews Federal Credit Union.
"It was a good experience," she said. "I really enjoyed working for a credit union." Matz added that she could see the immediate results of the credit union's efforts.
"It was very challenging. You can really do a lot to help your members," she said. Matz advocated that the credit unions' role in the current mortgage crisis is critically important.
Matz, who had been serving as acting CEO since the departure of former CEO Michael Hale in December, said she had no immediate plans other than enjoying the summer with some good books. She also plans to head out to her property in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
Matz will still be speaking on a panel at NAFCU's annual conference, slated for July 8-12 in San Diego, regarding serving the underserved.
Chris McDonald was named the permanent Andrews Federal Credit Union president/CEO in April. Matz characterized her departure after more than two years with the credit union as a mutual agreement.
