WASHINGTON — CUNA and the Alabama Credit Union League haveendorsed state Rep. Jay Love in the GOP primary for the open seatin Alabama's 2nd Congressional District.

Both organizations said they plan to contribute $5,000 to Love'scampaign, the maximum allowed by federal law.

Love, a former restaurant owner who has been a state legislatorsince 2003, is one of several candidates in the June 3 primary.Among his opponents is state Sen. Harri Anne Smith, executive vicepresident of Slocomb National Bank and has received support fromseveral banking organizations.
