TULSA, Okla. — Charting what could become a new regional "model" in the management and operation of state leagues, the Oklahoma Credit Union League disclosed Thursday it is working toward a partnership with the Texas Credit Union League to outsource a broad package of services.
Addressing the annual meeting of the league here, Michael Kloiber, chairman, said a service contract with the Texas League still being studied was the "best solution" for the trade group to move forward in light of shrinking membership rolls and "economies of scale."
In his remarks, Kloiber, who also is president/CEO of Tinker FCU in Oklahoma City, forecast "a cut in staff" if the Texas League offer is accepted but that the trade group would retain much of its existing governmental structure and committees with "advocacy" and government affairs run from new headquarters in Oklahoma City to open next year.

In his remarks made to a crowd of 500 at the Marriott Southern Hills, Kloiber also suggested that service compacts like the one being developed by the Texas League may be the wave of the future for state leagues elsewhere and that "there are six to eight leagues" that could make up a regional group to work with Texas. He did not name the leagues.
