FORT WORTH, Texas — Unity One Federal Credit Union went a little wild to mark financial literacy month.

The North Tarrant branch hosted a slew of zoo animals from the Fort Worth Zoo Wild Wonders outreach program. UKid and Team Unity Club members (ages 0–17) and their friends got up close and personal to learn about an alligator, giant marine toad, hyacinth macaw, spectacled owl, black-footed penguin and chinchilla. The visiting penguin made sure she saw all parts of the branch, as her handlers let her freely walk around and mingle. Thanks to Cub Scout Pack 418, the popcorn and juice flowed freely.

The Northside branch hosted the fifth birthday party for Unity One's mascot zebra, Max. Max and over 20 of his friends were treated to face painting and balloon shapes from Cloey the Clown, a sidewalk chalk coloring contest, a bounce house and plenty of cake.

The Campus branch or credit union headquarters gave young members a behind-the-scenes look at credit union operations. They toured the main member areas, the vault, behind the teller line and the back-office space. Each guest was given a $2 bill, courtesy of Unity One FCU.

Even the St. Paul, Minn. branch, which rarely receives young visitors due to its downtown location, had coloring sheets and plenty of crayons available. Staff also took this time to get familiar with the National Endowment for Financial Education High School Financial Planning Program materials for future high school presentations.
