RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina rang in its first annual planet earth celebration with some help from State Employees Credit Union and other local businesses.

The festival was created to celebrate sustainability efforts and to raise awareness in North Carolina communities of the rewards relative to taking better care of the local and global environment.

SECU staff and youth mascot Fat Cat were on hand to provide information on the credit union's green products, including mortgages, auto loans and e-statements. In keeping with the green theme, SECU also focused on offering an interactive educational format using Fat Cat's Wheel of Knowledge, which quizzed young visitors on topics such as recycling, energy conservation and environmental awareness.
