AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Credit Union Foundation has awarded A+ Federal Credit Union the FOCUS Award.

Each year, this award is given to the credit union in Texas which best exemplifies a commitment to financial education. A+FCU was recognized for its program in which employees have conducted over 100 financial education presentations in area schools reaching nearly 5,000 students.

The credit union also employs a full-time Member Education Specialist, former teacher Dawn Ambuehl-Sadek, who is dedicated to providing free financial education to members and non-members alike. Over 450 A+FCU members have taken advantage of the unique opportunity to receive free financial education. Others that have benefited from A+FCU's financial outreach program include parents of students, educators, and employees of FirstCare Health Plans, Texas Association of School Boards and the YMCA of Austin.

“We're proud to receive this award since it is representative of the importance and focus we place on financial literacy. Over the past year, our financial outreach programs have continued to expand and positively impact people in our community. Our sincere goal is to help everyone fulfill their life-long financial dreams through free financial education,” said A+FCU CEO Kerry Parker.
