DENVER -- Carving out a special niche in financial literacy and aiding the underserved, the Credit Union Association of Colorado/Wyoming unveiled Friday a new web-based financial education series through its foundation and at the same time signed on with the Real Solutions program of the National Credit Union Foundation.

"These are breakthrough developments for our foundation and important as we go forward in helping the underserved," declared John Dill, president/CEO of CUAC and of its affiliated Credit Union Foundation of Colorado/Wyoming.

In a parallel announcement, the foundation said it has recruited Robert Hoel, the retired head of the Filene Research Institute and now a Fort Collins finance guru, to join the foundation board. Also added as a director is Jane Prancan, a former U.S. West Communication foundation executive and head of a Colorado community consulting firm. Prancan is also the current chairman of Bellco CU of Denver.

On financial literacy, the Colorado foundation said is in the midst of a national rollout of "Foolproof," enabling CUs to access online state-of-the-art financial education materials and curriculum. Meanwhile, the Colorado/Wyoming trade group joins more than two dozen other state leagues in offering Real Solutions products ranging from payday alternatives to special homeowner accounts.
