LOS ALAMOS, N.M. -- Did the chairman of the supervisory committee of a $306 million credit union lose his position and his credit union membership for doing his job too well?
That is the question Joe Gutierrez and his wife Bertha have been left to consider after the Del Norte credit union expelled Joe from his supervisory committee chairmanship and both he and Bertha from their credit union membership in early March of this year. Gutierrez says both he and his wife have been members of Del Norte for over 18 years and kept their membership account in good standing. Joe, an employee with the Los Alamos National Laboratory, said that over his career with Del Norte he has served as the chairman and secretary of its board as well as Chairman of its asset and liability committee.
