SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Golden 1 Credit Union has made the Center for Companies that Care's 2008 Honor Roll list.

Created in 2004 to recognize companies that value their employees and are committed to helping out the community, the Companies that Care Honor Roll honorees have included such companies as Office Depot and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

"Whether it is helping our employees reach new heights or the creation of a better workplace or helping those in the community who are less fortunate, The Golden 1 has prided itself in giving back and is very honored by this award," said President/CEO Teresa A. Halleck.

She added that The Golden 1 has made a significant investment in creating a first-rate workplace. For example, credit union employees can earn up to $5,250 in tuition reimbursements, and employees who earn college diplomas can earn a bonus of up to $2,000. In addition, Halleck said The Golden 1 staffers are encouraged to become leaders, contribute to improve operations and participate in community outreach programs.

"Being included on a list with companies of this magnitude is a very positive sign that The Golden 1 is succeeding with its goals of becoming a preferred employer and in giving back to the community," said Halleck.
