SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The $1 billion Navigant Credit Union was one of several entities that supported the Women's Summit, a conference that brought nearly 1,000 attendees here from across southeastern New England.
The summit, which took place in late February at Bryant University, featured educational workshops on leadership, entrepreneurship, negotiation, diversity, communication, life balance and financial investing.
Geraldine Ferraro, the former New York congresswoman who ran for vice president 24 years ago, was one of the keynote speakers.
Ferraro recently resigned from Hillary Clinton's finance committee after comments she made about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama's abilities.
Ferraro told conference attendees she would not offer any further comments on the matter but did say if Obama wins the Democrat nomination, she would support him.
Another keynote speaker was Michelle Peluso, president/CEO of Travelocity, now the sixth-largest travel agency in the world. Bank Rhode Island President/CEO Merrill W. Sherman, who was honored as the 2008 Bryant University New England Businesswoman of the Year, also spoke at the summit.
Navigant CU provided support for the conference along with major sponsors Fidelity Investments and the Amica Cos. Additional support came from PricewaterhouseCoopers and Citizens Bank Foundation among others.
