FORT WORTH, Texas — The consequences of an ATM security breach at a former credit union bank has begun to spread to other credit unions, according to an article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
OmniAmerican Bank, formerly OmniAmerican Credit Union has had several card data security breaches since it converted from a federal credit union and started business as a bank on Jan. 1 2006. The latest was an ATM security breach in January of this year, according to the paper.
It appears other credit unions such as Navy Federal and Fort Worth Community Credit Union began to see their members involved in the breach because some of those members used the OmniAmerican Bank ATM, which the bank maintains on the grounds of Naval Air Station Fort Worth.

According to the report, members of the credit unions began to notice unauthorized charges on their accounts, some of which ran into the hundreds of dollars. Other institutions with customers who had been compromised in the breach included Bank of America.
The Station has communicated with all the base personnel and urged them to monitor their accounts. Federal authorities are investigating but would not comment.
