DURHAM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem Foundation has awarded a $100,000 grant to Latino Community Development Center to support the opening of a Forsyth County Latino Community Credit Union branch in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
According to the Foundation, Forsyth County has the third largest Latino population in the state, yet has no financial institution and education tailored to the needs of Latinos.

education to the rapidly growing underserved Latino community.
"The opening of the Winston-Salem branch in these uncertain economic times is proof that we have confidence in this country," said Roger Montes, regional manager for the Triad area. "Our members in Winston-Salem and nearby counties will appreciate the convenience of a new location closer to their homes."
With the support of the Winston-Salem Foundation, LCCU will open a full service branch in the Waughtown section of Winston-Salem, providing all of the transaction services, deposit products, consumer loans, and mortgage products available at its other five branches throughout North Carolina. The new location will also offer financial education workshops to members as well as the larger community.
The Winston-Salem branch of Latino Community Credit Union is tentatively scheduled to open in May 2008.
The Winston-Salem Foundation is a community foundation that supports charitable programs in the greater Forsyth County area. In 2006, the Foundation granted more than $30 million to charitable causes, $1.9 million of which was in competitive grants.
