LUDLOW, Mass. — Luso Federal Credit Union said it is converting to a core processing system from COCC to handle the growth the CU expects to see from a dramatic increase in its field of membership.

The $147 million CU's field of membership has been expanded from the town of Ludlow to all of Hampden County, or from about 23,000 people to 461,000 people.

"We knew this would increase our members' demands for products and services, and we wanted a technology partner who could accommodate every need for financial services that our members might have," said Jennifer M. G. Calheno, CEO at 6,100-member Luso Federal (www.lusofederal.com).

The credit union has also built a new, solar-efficient office and launched a "Go Green" campaign touting online banking and electronic statements, as well as discounted loans for hybrid vehicles, Energy Star-rated improvements and help to pay for fuel costs.

Luso Federal also will be using relationship pricing, integrated views of members and other business intelligence tools from COCC.

Richard A. Leone, president and CEO of COCC (www.cocc.com), said, "Luso left us years ago when COCC's technology service was based on a legacy platform. We are thrilled that Luso Federal Credit Union has reselected COCC."

COCC, the former Connecticut Online, runs a service bureau operation based on Open Solutions Inc.'s relational database system and has more than 150 clients, including about 40 credit unions.

Luso Federal currently is running on a system from Credit Union Online Inc., according to the NCUA Web site.
