SAN ANTONIO — Security Service Federal Credit Union is doing its part for the environment.

SSFCU has saved more than 2.6 million gallons of water, in 2007, after implementing a new water conservation program, at its 16-acre corporate headquarters.

The high tech software, Aquador.NET, provided by Acequia, Comprehensive Irrigation Management, not only allows SSFCU to determine the precise amount of water necessary to irrigate its landscape without consuming additional, wasted water, but also generates remote adjustments, over the internet, to accommodate precipitation and temperature changes.

According to SSFCU President/CEO David Reynolds, the success of the program has resulted in lower operating costs, a 50% reduction in consumption, and "most importantly, the conservation of a diminishing natural resource."
