WASHINGTON — President George W. Bush has nominated Carol Dillon Kissal to serve as inspector general for the Small Business Administration.
The Office of Inspector General is responsible for conducting independent reviews, audits, and investigations of all SBA programs and participants in order to prevent fraud and abuse. The office also recommends ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SBA's programs and operations.
Kissal was nominated to replace Eric Thorson, who was nominated to assume the inspector general role at the Department of the Treasury. Kissal currently serves as a deputy director for the District of Columbia Department of Transportation. Previously she was corporate treasurer for Amtrak in Washington, D.C. Before joining Amtrak, she was a program financial analyst with IBM in New York.

Kissal's nomination is subject to a hearing before the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship committee, and also requires Senate consent, according to SBA.
