EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon Community Credit Union is lending a helping hand to area medical students.

The credit union has donated $100,000 to the Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation to fund an innovative program that enables some 80 medical students a year to receive practical training in the form of five-week clerkships at clinics throughout Oregon.

The center is the first of its kind in Oregon and is a partnership between Oregon Health & Sciences University, PeaceHealth/Sacred Heart and the University of Oregon to advance the medical profession regionally and statewide.
