INDIANAPOLIS — FORUM Credit Union and the WNBA Indiana Fever are looking for the next Teen Entrepreneur.
Indiana Fever player Tamika Catchings and team mascot Freddy Fever joined FORUM CU in announcing the launch of the Teen Entrepreneur Contest.
The contest, which is part of the WNBA's Read to Achieve Program, is aimed at promoting financial literacy among students in grades 6 — 12 and asks participants to answer questions regarding a new business venture they aspire to start.

"We are happy to partner with FORUM Credit Union on the Teen Entrepreneur Contest promoting financial literacy for Indianapolis' youth," says Kelly Krauskopf, chief operating officer/general manager of the Fever. "The Indiana Fever is committed to assisting youth in our community through these partnerships and by providing terrific role models like Tamika, who embodies the true essence of giving back to her community by mentoring and inspiring many young girls and boys."
Catchings spoke to students about the contest during pep rallies at Broad Ripple High School and Craig Middle School and challenged them to think now about their future professional goals. She shared her story of setting goals to become a professional basketball player with her own foundation, known as Catch the Stars, and how academics helped her to reach her goals.
When asked how many students wanted to start their own business, the majority at both school pep rallies raised their hands. An equal number of hands were raised when students were asked whether they planned to participate in the Teen Entrepreneur Contest.
"FORUM Credit Union is active in promoting financial education throughout the community and especially to students. This contest provides a way to help students add to or begin saving for college while giving them real-world experience preparing a business plan," said FORUM Senior Vice President of Marketing and Strategy C. Andrew Mattingly. "We're excited that students at these schools had the opportunity to interact with a positive role model like Tamika."
