SALEM, Ore. — Oregon-based CUSO CU Wireless wants to helpparents and their kids stay in touch.

The CUSO has launched Firefly, a new cell phone product that hasno numeric keypad–just mom and dad buttons preprogrammed sochildren don't have to memorize phone numbers. The phone also has aPIN controlled phone book where other important numbers can bestored. In addition, there are no up front costs, no long termcontracts, and parents are alerted when their child is approachingtheir monthly allowance limit.

The move is designed to help credit unions in their efforts toattract young families to become first time members or open newaccounts.
