WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — There were plenty of high fives and well wishes last week for Jeanine Miller, the retiring head teller at the $202 million Members CU here, who may have set a local mark for job longevity–44 years.
"Jeanine has been the face of the credit union to so many members," reflected Robert Donley, executive vice president of administration. "Her stability and dependability on the teller line has always made me comfortable with that face."
With Miller's retirement, he added, her legacy will no doubt be defined by the lives she has touched, members and co-workers alike.

"She trained me on the teller line," remembers David Elliott, former MCU employee and current Fort Bragg FCU president/CEO. "It's amazing to think about the hundreds of tellers she has trained and the thousands of members she has been in contact with during her tenure."
Miller has confided that over the years she has simply enjoyed "meeting with people" and overall the job has suited her perfectly.
At one time though things were not always so rosy, she said recalling the 1986 bankruptcy of McLean Trucking Co., which gave the CU its former name as McLean Employees CU. "I was scared," Miller recalls adding, "I didn't know if I'd still have a job."
Miller was to be honored by staffers and members at a retirement party and celebration Jan. 29 with the CU noting how much has changed since 1963 when she started from a five-employee CU to one now with 93 employees and serving 52,000 members.
