ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Credit unions in New York and New Jersey, supported by their state leagues and helping to underwrite the BizKid$ financial literacy show on public TV stations, were getting on the promotion bandwagon over the weekend with "kickoff" parties and new CU branding.
"Let me tell you my 8-year-old son who never sits for long just loved the show," said Laurie Baker, chief operating officer of The Summit FCU here, which began running 30-second The Summit tag lines at the end of each episode as the show began appearing on a Rochester PBS station last week.
To herald the debut of BizKid$ in upstate New York, The Summit held a special "BizKid$" Bash with hundreds of youngsters visiting booths at Rochester station WXXI.
Meanwhile, the New Jersey Credit Union League said "Bob the Credit Union Guy" awareness ads were to begin running over the weekend as taglines following the first-time airing of BizKid$ show on Channel 50, a major PBS outlet in that state.
Elsewhere, CUs in Indiana, North Carolina and several other states also began tag branding the TV show as it began appearing on participating PBS stations.
