WASHINGTON — As Credit Union Development Educators and creditunion supporters flow into Washington for CUNA's Government AffairsConference this year, they will find an opportunity to help meetthe practical needs of hungry people.

Development Educators Melissa Farley and Carla Decker,respectively the CEOs of MB Consulting in Lynchburg, Va. and theDistrict Government Employees Federal Credit Union in Washington,D.C., are organizing an event for between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon onSunday, March 2.

Development Educator volunteers will pack 15,000 meals duringthat time, according to the organizers. Each meal will cost 20cents and consist of “dehydrated, fortified rice-soy mealscontaining over 20 vitamins and minerals especially formulated forthe undernourished,” they said, adding that the meals will bevacuum-sealed in bags that can be stored for up to five years.
