WASHINGTON — Politics and the political fortunes of different presidential candidates filled the air at the most recent "Washington Power Lunch," an event CUNA sponsored and National Journal and MSNBC organized.

CUNA put the event on at Union Station, blocks from the U.S. Capital and congressional offices. Discussion among the 200 lawmakers, staffers, journalists and lobbyists centered on the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates and the results from the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary, while C-SPAN television covered the event live.

CUNA Senior Vice President of Political Affairs Richard Gose said by participating in Thursday's event, "insiders from Capitol Hill and in the Washington lobbying community will see credit unions actively engaged in the political process."
