SAN FRANCISCO — California's Department of Financial Institutions has told its state chartered credit unions that it will file a 990 form with the Internal Revenue Service for at least one more year.

The department cited a recent IRS decision not to change the 990 form for the 2007 tax year as one reason for its decision. California credit unions had been lobbying for the department to continue the practice.

The department told state chartered credit unions that they would soon have the forms the state would need to complete the filing.
