DULUTH, Ga. — The Georgia Credit Union League demonstrated that membership has its rewards as it recently provided a patronage refund to every credit union that attended the 2007 Georgia Credit Union League Annual Convention in Savannah.

Authorized by the board of directors, the rebate of $200 was refunded for each primary registrant of the convention.

"This is our way of saying thank you to credit unions for participating in the events we create to help develop and grow the credit union system in our state," said Georgia Credit Union League Board Chair Phyllis Cochran. "Our hope is that even more credit unions will join us in 2008 for our annual convention."

The Annual Convention is one of many events throughout the year designed to enhance the cooperative spirit of credit unions, and to provide leaders and volunteers with an opportunity to exchange knowledge. Educational enrichment, networking with peers and learning about the league's ongoing efforts to expand the development and growth of credit unions in Georgia, are just a few benefits of attending.

The theme "Members Win" was woven throughout the convention, which included a small credit union learning summit, an awards reception, and several networking opportunities. A host of speakers presented information at a dozen education sessions covering topics ranging from payday lending programs and serving the Hispanic market to member satisfaction and creative leadership strategies. Diana Dykstra, CEO of San Francisco Fire Credit Union, Mark Meyer, executive directive and CEO of the Filene Research Institute, and Walter Bond, former NBA player, were among the speakers.

Georgia league's 2008 annual convention will be held May 14-17 at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Georgia.
