Los Angeles Federal Credit Union, Glendale, Calif., collected more than 700 toys for the annual “Toys for Tots” Toy Drive. LAFCU employees and members were invited to donate an unwrapped toy to one of the Credit Union's six branches. Toys from bicycles to Barbie Dolls were collected and were donated to local needy children for the holidays. LAFCU has partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program for more than a decade to give thousands of toys to disadvantaged children in the Los Angeles area.

American First Credit Union, La Habra, Calif., organized its fourth annual Angel Tree gift campaign to collect gifts for the children and teens of the Crittenton Services for Family and Children. The Angel Tree was filled with gift tags and wish lists in the AFCU La Habra corporate office for employees to voluntarily choose a tag. Nearly 150 employees donated gifts that included blankets, shoes, games, baby items, and toys for the abused and neglected children. The AFCU's “Spirit of Service” committee organized the campaign and organizes numerous community events to benefit Orange County.

Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, Phoenix, Ariz., participated in Adopt-a-Classroom this holiday season spreading cheer to low-income students at Balsz Elementary School. CU employees participated in arts and crafts throughout 20 classrooms and donated wrapped presents and holiday treats to approximately 400 students at the school.

Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union, Merritt Island, Fla., showed community support this season by participating in two holiday parades with its holiday parade float. They also presented Second Harvest Food Bank with a check for $250 to help with their holiday food drive, and all 12 branches collected food donations for food bank to help those in need over the holidays.

TruMark Financial Credit Union, Trevose, Pa., employees wrapped and distributed holiday gifts and served food at the holiday dinner for the Covenant House in Philadelphia. Employees logged a total of 72 volunteer hours for the house, which is the largest private child welfare agency in the Delaware Valley, and the largest provider of services to homeless and runaway youth under the age of 21 in Philadelphia.

Afena Federal Credit Union, Marion, Ind., served as one of the Grant County Mission's Angel Tree sites. Afena's members and staff fulfilled wishes for 20 people and held a bake sale that raised $130 for Grant County Mission. Employees were also given the opportunity to wear jeans on Christmas and New Year's Eve for a $5 donation to Grant County Mission.

Prime Financial Credit Union, Cudahy, Wis., collected more than 850 toys this year for “Toys for Tots” and celebrated its 11th year as a collection location for the campaign. Penny the Prime Piggy, the PFCU Lil' Savers Club Account mascot, also visited the annual WeTIP Christmas Child Safety Theatre Party. Penny greeted kids and parents with piggy banks, treats, and information regarding the Lil' Savers Club account. The club is for members ages 12 and under and is designed to teach young members how to become financially responsible as they grow into adults.

AmeriCU, New Hartford, N.Y., Mitten Challenge was extended due to a donation of 1,000 additional pairs of gloves from Herb Philipson's Army & Navy store. The Mitten Challenge provided the Salvation Army with gloves to be distributed to local families in need of winter accessories. AmeriCU Credit Unions encouraged and challenged the public to participate in the event and collected donations in its branches. Herb Philipson has stores in Rome, New Hartford, Oneida, Herkimer, Liverpool and Watertown, N.Y..
