ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Ninilchik Fire Department here will have new life-saving equipment thanks to a $16,782 grant from Alaska USA Insurance Brokers, a wholly-owned CUSO of $3.2 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union.
The fire department will use the grant to buy a new, high-tech heart monitor and defibrillator, said Fired Chief Mike Chihuly. The device is used to issue a jolt of current electricity which is directed in the heart to get it back to its original rhythmic beat for persons who have experienced sudden cardiac arrest.
Alaska USA Insurance Brokers is one of the largest Fireman's Fund carriers in the Pacific Northwest and the largest independent brokerage in Alaska, providing insurance coverage for businesses and individuals, including commercial risk solutions and employee benefits, homeowners, auto, boat and life insurance, according to Alaska USA FCU.
