OGDEN, Utah — The $580 million Goldenwest Credit Union, which last May won honors in its size category as "Credit Union of the Year" from the National Association of Federal Credit Unions picked up a new accolade this week, "Best Company To Work For" in Utah.
The latest recognition comes from Utah Business, the state's leading business journal, which said Goldenwest won in its category for medium-sized business with 200-500 employees. The award is being announced in the November issue of the magazine.
"At Goldenwest, we have always considered our benefits package as an investment rather than an expense," said Shelley B. Clarke, Goldenwest president/CEO.

Clarke explained that the trickle-down effect of happy employees on member service has played a major role in the CU's recent growth.
"Satisfaction in the work place continues to be a key component in our success," added Clarke. "Simply stated, employees who feel appreciated and cared for are more productive in both their professional and personal lives."
Utah businesses were judged in a variety of areas, including employee benefits, work environment, corporate philosophy, career advancement, internal recognition programs, internal communications, and community involvement.
