Want to Strengthen Debit Program? Look to Checking Accounts

Credit unions who are looking to build their debit card programs might need to look first to the share draft procedures, according to Debra Beyer, a strategic account manager for Fidelity National Information Services. Fidelity National processes credit and debit card transactions for over 4,000 CUs nationwide.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Credit unions who are looking to build their debit card programs might need to look first to the share draft procedures, according to Debra Beyer, a strategic account manager for Fidelity National Information Services. Fidelity National processes credit and debit card transactions for over 4,000 CUs nationwide.

“The share draft or checking account is the foundation account for our CUs,” Beyer said. “We consider it that because of the role it plays as the first relationship that leads to the others, in particular the debit card.”
