WASHINGTON — The Minnesota Credit Union Network hosted its second Hike the Hill visit of 2007 last month bringing a dozen credit union representatives to Washington, D.C. to meet with their federal elected officials.

During the trip, credit union professionals and volunteers promoted the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act (H.R. 1537) and the importance of credit unions to Minnesota. The group was a special host at a fundraiser for Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-Minn.) its first day in town. The Hikers saw it as an opportunity to demonstrate their support for the representative and discuss various credit union issues with her. They also met with most all of the other representative and senator's offices over the next two days.

The trip closed with an evening reception at Tortilla Coast, attended by six members of Congress and/or their staff.
