NEW YORK — A third source of mainstream cooperation and support has joined the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions. According to a Federation announcement, the Western Corporate Federal Credit Union (WesCorp) has become a Corporate Credit Union Sustainer of the organization.

Corporate Credit Union Sustainers are corporate credit unions who support the work of the Federation and community development credit unions nationally, the Federation said.

“Community development credit unions provide invaluable financial services to underserved communities, and the Federation plays an important role in supporting their efforts in a variety of ways,” remarked WesCorp CEO Bob Siravo when the Federation gave WesCorp a plaque reflecting the membership. “As a financial service cooperative, it's important to us at WesCorp that our common credit union values are continually promoted in the marketplace, and that affordable financial services are truly made available to low-income and underserved people. Our support of the Federation is one way we ensure those values and services are continually being delivered.”

The WesCorp announcement comes on the heels of an announcement that two credit unions of over $1 billion in assets have joined the Federation as well as Community Development Partners.
