Using proven content from organizations such as the National Endowment for Financial Education and the JumpStart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, TopLine staff developed three age-appropriate seminars and a series of public service commercials to bring parents and kids together to talk about saving, spending and sharing money wisely, and to establish a foundation for conversation and knowledge that would allow for the incorporation of family values at home.
Since January, TopLine staffers have presented over 70 seminars to nearly 1,400 Twin Cities' kids and their parents.
TopLine will now be considered for the national Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award in November.
The Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award recognizes leadership within the credit union industry on behalf of youth financial literacy. It considers all activities supporting the personal finance education of young members and nonmembers, and is sponsored by the Minnesota Credit Union Network and CUNA.
