WASHINGTON — The CUNA Board has renewed Dan Mica's contract as president/CEO of the trade association.

Without going into further detail, CUNA has confirmed that Mica renewed his contract for "up to" another four years with either party able to severe the contract with one year's notice. "I know that the board of directors and myself are delighted that Dan is staying with us and I believe Dan is delighted as well," CUNA Chairman Alan Kemp McMorris, CEO of Oakland County Credit Union, commented.

Over his 11-year tenure, the former Democratic congressman from Florida moved CUNA's headquarters from Madison, Wis. to Washington, D.C., putting a strong credit union presence in the nation's capital. From the start, he was thrown into the midst of a failing credit card operation owned by CUNA, which was sold off, and the grassroots battle for H.R. 1151, the Credit Union Membership Access Act.

He also led efforts to restructure the CUNA Board and dues calculations. Mica is now the longest-tenured CUNA CEO in history. CUNA CEOs have typically not served more than seven years.
