LA CROSSE, Wis. — The $100 million Community Credit Union of La Crosse is the latest Wisconsin CU to start offering reduced rates and flexible loan options to aid victims of the Aug. 18 flooding.

"The costs involved in cleanup and replacement can be overwhelming," noted the CU in offering members deferred payments, lower rates and waivers of closing costs on home equity loans.

Community follows similar action taken by Marine Credit Union of Fond du Lac, which said its temporary loan program would "help make this time a little easier" for victims in the seven river area that includes a swath of the Mississippi stretching across hard-hit Minnesota.

Stacy Trisler, director of marketing at Community of La Crosse said loan rates could be cut as much as 50 basis points, but would be handled on "a case by case basis."

Community has 12,000 members and four branches. Marine also has a branch in the flooded area.
